New Nursing Home Visits Announced!
Hooves of Hope has been invited to bring the horses for monthly visits to 2 local retirement / nursing homes this year. We start our visits on June the 12th, to the Sheridan Nursing home in Navasota, TX, and to the Kruse village Nursing Home, starting on June the 17th and running through October. Please visit our calendar page to see the dates.
Nursing home visits will take place from 1:00 - 3:00 pm, with clean-up the day before at the monastery barn. Anyone can help with clean-up, just email me a day ahead of time. You can meet us in the barn at noon to help get the horses brushed out, washed and groomed, or, you can meet us at the facility to help with unloading, clean-up, handing out information, etc. You do not need prior horse experience to participate! Our horses are so well-trained, they practically guide themselves through the visits.
Here are directions to the facilities we will be visiting next.

We'll meet at the Laroche Manor entrance at that cul-de-sac little driveway. You will see the horse trailer. That's where we will unload the horses.
We welcome anyone to come along, if you are 16 and older, or 12 - 16 with a parent or legal guardian. If you want to help with handling the horses, you will need to attend one of our training sessions prior to the visit. If you are thinking about learning how to handle one of the horses, you can always come and observe the visit. Hopefully, you can help out a bit by visiting with the residents while you are there.
All nursing home vists are weather permitting. They have a nice covered area, so rain is not a problem. The only factors that would keep us from visiting would be a severe weather situation such as tornado, severe thunderstorms or flooding. Also, if we don't have volunteers, we can't go, so, please open your hearts and join us!

We will be training all new volunteers for grooming, horse handling, and proper safety and etiquette for our upcoming visits to the nursing homes.
Current volunteers are welcomed and encouraged to attend, to meet all of our new volunteers, and help out in getting the new volunteers and NEW HORSES trained too! It will be a fun day! The first training day will be held June 30th, from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m at the Monastery Barn in Brenham.
Please email if you would like to participate or if you need directions.

To Volunteer, please contact the director. Thank you so much for your contribution to Hooves of Hope. You can make a real difference in this community with the gift of your time, talents, patience, optimism and love.
