"Animals are God's most perfect creations. They exude love, happiness, playfulness, patience, understanding and empathy. They have a way of letting us know they understand our feelings and they want to make us happy.

Their positive energy can lift even the saddest spirit, add hope to even the most desperate of circumstances or ease the most critical pain.

God's love transcends to us through the animals to renew our spirits and help us feel a bit of heaven once again."

MINI HORSES HELPING MANY PEOPLE TM

Who we are: Our Founders

Hooves of Hope, was founded in 2008, by Anne Rule, of College Station, TX, with the assistance of several key people listed below, as well as numerous companies and individuals listed on our sponsors page.

Our Founder:

Anne Rule, Founder and
Executive Director

As a degreed accountant with a long, successful career in oil and gas accounting, Anne later moved on to become a successful internet entrepreneur when she built a global internet business in antique prints and maps called VintagePrints.com. Anne sold this business in 2002 to move on to other endeavors. In 2003, Anne was enjoying a successful career in internet marketing and advertising, when sudden and unexpected tragedy struck her down.

It came much to her surprise when she suddenly found herself bedridden with a disabling back injury and severe carpal tunnel syndrome from years of computer work. She spent a nearly unbearable 2 years, confined mostly to the bed or a wheelchair, due to the pain of her spinal cord being crushed by her spine. She learned through this very dark time in her life, the difference that even one caring visitor can make to a person who is suffering. This one act of compassion can help that individual turn the corner away from desperately giving up, toward choosing faith, hope and survival. After major back surgery, the resulting constant leg pain and burning sensations up and down her body were a constant reminder that her life had irreperably changed forever. Because of these physical challenges and the inability to return to her professional life, she uniquely and lovingly sought a way to contribute to the greater good of humanity in some simple but hopefully profound way.

That is when she discovered miniature horses. She realized that her pain was eased when volunteering with these amazing animals, even though she was only able to lead them on halter for very short periods of time, from 5 to 10 minutes. Even with very limited exposure to these precious animals, her pain was eased when in their presence. She realized that if it worked for her, it might help others as all..

Anne's life has been one of volunteering and helping both people and animals in all sorts of venues. Her past efforts ranged from volunteering for church mission trips to various parts of the world as a teenager, to helping the homeless in various ways as a young adult, to volunteering for various animal rescue foundations as an adult. She knows in her heart, that in serving others, we can find true joy and meaning in life. For her, her God-given gifts of patience, optimism and love were tested, sculpted, and shown to her in a way she had never seen before. When she felt a calling to start Hooves of Hope, she immediately accepted that calling without hesitation and begin searching for people to help her make that vision come true. Although her physical capabilities are very limited, God has consistently put people in her path that could help bring the Hooves of Hope horses to those in need.

Co-Founder:

Tammy Schwartz, Brenham, TX

Co-Founder and Corporate Secretary

Friends since their college days, Tammy and Anne have worked together in many different capacities, both professionally and personally. As a degreed Computer Scientist and Certified Project Manager, Tammy is very, very good at organizing and helping with legal and financial details.

Unfortunately, just after the Katrina Hurricane, a co-worker brought back a virulent pertussis strain to a group of workers, and Tammy contracted pertusis. The aftermath of that is a permanently paralyzed diaphragm, causing her to require oxygen therapy and have very limited activities. However, her brilliant mind and kind heart still allow her to help through her fantastic communication skills and super research capabilities on the computer. She has been a constant financial and moral supporter of the group, and has helped tremendously in getting together volunteers who are happy to fill the roles that require more physical abilities.

Jordan Schwartz, Brenham, TX

Co-Founder and Financial Supporter

As a degreed mathmatician, and degreed MCMB (biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology) scientist, Jordan has been very, very helpful working with the horses, contributing our logos and artwork, and contributing financially at every turn. Jordan has provided us with extremely clever and fantastic ideas since the beginning, and our logo was created thanks to his designs.

Jordan has helped in numerous ways, but he has especially helped in time of crucial developmental changes and financial challenges. We continue to rely on him for providing great ideas and guidance when it comes to making decisions in regards to the direction that Hooves of Hope will take in serving south-eastern Texas.
